Nationalism Project

Impressionist Art

We will conduct an in-class activity over 4-5 days to explore the Impressionist art movement of the 1800s and its association with the Industrial Revolution.

(B) Computer lab: Analysis of painting
  • Choose one from below. Analyse on notesheet
(C) Computer lab: Create interactive image

(D) Paragraph response
  • Write a mini-essay of 200-250 words with details from the background reading and your notesheet.
  • Prompt: Write a letter to the director of the Detroit Institute of Art explaining why he should acquire the painting  you analyzed for the impressionism gallery. Give context for the painting and the artist and explain how it illustrates the techniques of impressionism.
  • Paste the URL of the webpage/image you made somewhere in your letter. Save your essay in your world history folder AND print out a copy. Staple your essay to your notesheet and turn it in. Due Friday, March 15.
